Red Sweater Project Announces New Endowment to Secure Long-Term Sustainability and Expand Educational Impact in Tanzania

The James B. and Ann Nicholson Family Endowment dedicated to sustaining its mission of providing accessible, quality education to underserved communities in rural Tanzania. This transformative endowment ensures long-term financial stability for Red Sweater Project’s programs while laying the groundwork for future growth and innovation in community-led education. Made possible through the generosity of The Nicholson Family’s commitment to educational equity, the endowment will support The Mungere School and Beyond Academy through infrastructure development and maintence, the expansion of Red Rhino Tours safari programs, and additions to the curriculum. With investments in Red Rhino Tours now, Red Sweater Project aims to be completely self-sustaining by 2028. Learn more about each investment below:

Safari Expansion

With a focus on sustainability, Red Rhino Tours plans to invest in increasing tour participation and engagement by:

  • Investing in Cash Flow Positive Ventures

Vehicle Rental Program

Launching a vehicle rental program will optimize the use of tour safari vehicles. This program will positively impact Red Sweater Project through:

  • Generating Revenue

  • Increasing Sustainability and Cost Efficiency

  • Maximizing the Value of Each Vehicle

Garage, Autoparts, and Mechanic Center

Red Sweater Project will benefit from the addition of a mechanic training program from:

  • Providing hands-on apprentice training to students

  • Selling wholesale autoparts to generate revenue

  • Resulting community impact and economic growth as the main mechanic outside of the metropolitan areas

Red Rhino Tours aims to develop a unique campground in the heart of the Mungere Community. Guests will experience:

This innovative program will provide safari clients with ready-made equipment for their tours. Safari gear will be provided by aspiring safari drivers and business owners to financially support the local community. Gear includes:
